26-10-2013 Back in harness where I should be, most of this year has been spent planning for a trip to Scotland that nearly did not happen. The results were excellent however images were hard won, summer did not seem to happen on the West Coast. New techniques hit the fan and one failed, the theory was fine and readings on the meter confirmed the theory but in practice it failed, however that was only one technique to bite the dust the rest were as expected brilliant.
A Tribute to the Late Sir Patrick Moore entitled --- The "SKYE" at night.
A late evening shot across the Kylerhea Narrows looking at the Isle of Skye, The Ferry moored in the Narrows. 30 second exposure, aperture - whatever takes your fancy.
28-10-2013 Just a thought about my trip to Scotland, you will have read earlier that I intended to go paperless with regard to mapping, this has proved a huge success, no more carrying around a holdall stuffed with maps only to find the one you need is at home on the desk. A full five stars for this one. Communications has also come under scrutiny and plans to revise methods are well underway, no more open fires and blanket throwing or signal flags, the new system will be remarkably cheap to implement and running costs very low, more about this later.
This video by Jim Manthorpe illustrates the area where I stayed for my working holiday, I was buzzed twice in one day by Eagles but sadly I did not have a camera ready to record the event, also features the skipper of the Balachulish Donnie and his dog Nak...........
Ode to Remembrance
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
We will remember them.
